Circle Soil was born from a desire to make a meaningful impact. By combining biochar with a blend of high-quality, locally sourced ingredients, we created a premium, peat-free potting mix that’s good for plants — and better for the planet.
Transformation
Tom and Alan, avid outdoorsmen, met as fly fishing guides on Alaska’s Kenai River, where their passion for conservation grew. After years in the Alaskan wilderness, they moved to Salt Lake City, working in forestry and tackling wildfire mitigation where they noticed a problem: massive green waste from cleared trees and brush was often burned or landfilled. Eventually, they discovered how to transform that wildfire waste into regenerative soil solutions. From houseplants to forests, Tom and Alan are building a circular future, one handful of soil at a time.

For me, Circle Soil isn’t just about great soil—it’s about honoring a centuries-old method of using fire to heal the land. Biochar connects us to something timeless, and I believe it's one of the most powerful tools we have to grow both plants and climate solutions.
